Waste and Recycling Policy

Purpose

Cast and Craft ltd is committed to waste reduction and recycling as part of its larger commitment to 

responsible environmental practices. This Policy establishes Cast and Craft Ltd goals for preventing and 

reducing waste and for recycling where waste cannot be avoided; as well as Cast and Craft ltd practices 

for achieving these goals.

Scope

This policy applies to Cast and craft ltd and all its subsidiaries (collectively “the 

Company”), employees, suppliers, vendors, and contracting partners. This policy applies to the 

Company’s operations in all jurisdictions in which it operates.

Policy

The Company has identified two main sources of waste from its activities and has identified 

source-specific goals and procedures aimed at reducing waste and maximizing recycling 

opportunities. In addition to the practices outlined below, the Company will track and report data 

concerning the amount of non-hazardous and hazardous waste generated by its activities, and 

the percentage of waste landfilled.

Waste from Office Activities: 

In order to minimize the amount of waste generated by the Company’s office activities, the 

Company will: 

• Instill a high level of awareness among its employees and in-office contractors regarding 

waste management and minimization, and a desire to re-use and recycle commonly used 

materials; 

• Reduce or eliminate disposable products used in break areas and promote the utilization 

of re-usable goods where possible; 

• Purchase recycled paper and supplies wherever possible; 

• Encourage employees to minimize the amount of paper used for office functions and 

promote the use of electronic files where possible;  

• Develop messaging for use with employees that encourages the recycling of waste 

materials; 

• Make recycling bins readily available for use by employees, separated by material type, to 

ensure that all commonly used recyclable materials may be deposited; and 

• Reduce excess packaging and purchase goods with biodegradable packaging.

Waste from Operations:

The Company will take the following actions in order to reduce the amount of waste produced by 

its operations: 

• Efficiently schedule service visits by field technicians to minimize distance traveled in order

 minimize fuel usage;

 • Sustainably dispose of end-of-life solar modules, inverters, batteries, and other electronic

 equipment used in repairs/replacements and in installations through the use of third-party

 recycling and refurbishment vendors that have demonstrated compliance with Responsible

 Recyclers R2:2013, OHSAS 1800:2007, and ISO 14001:2007 standards;

 • Strive for zero waste-to-landfill for recyclable e-waste products;

 • Encourage field personnel to re-use commonly used items such as beverage containers,

 and to properly care for reusable personal protective equipment to extend its life;

 • Give preference to suppliers and vendors who actively practice sustainable waste

reduction and recycling in their supply chain.

Responsibilities

 Employees 

• Track and report the total amount of non-hazardous and hazardous waste generated by

 Company activities, as well as the percentage of waste landfilled.

 • Conduct a self-assessment of the type of waste produced by common activities and identify

 practical ways to avoid or minimize waste going forward.

 • Actively recycle waste products using Company-supplied resources.

 • Recycle e-waste materials using vendors who have demonstrated compliance with

 applicable standards.

 • Assess the waste reduction and recycling practice.
